How to Use the Collection Day Helper

A tool for finding out when your neighborhood puts out what for collection. We organize public data from all 222 cities, counties, and districts exactly as published, and we always show how current that data is right alongside it.

What this tool does

Choose a province and a city or county, and we show you when each management zone in that area puts out household waste, food waste, and recyclables. If the source data includes start and end collection times, those appear too. Across the country there are a little over ten thousand rows at the management-zone level.

The values are exactly as written in the public data. We do not rewrite or summarize them.

How current the data is

This is the most important part. The reference date of the data is different for every region. Each local government uploads its own data on its own schedule, and we have no way to keep it all current ourselves.

Counting in August 2026, of the 222 cities, counties, and districts, 108 have 2026 data, but 46 have not been updated since before 2024. The oldest is from 2019. A few districts inside Seoul fall into that group too.

So every region page shows the reference date for that region's data right alongside it. If the date looks old, do not just take it at face value. Check once with your district office or neighborhood center. Local governments do change collection days from time to time.

What this tool cannot do

  • We cannot pin this down to the neighborhood (dong) level. The public data groups addresses into what it calls a management zone, and that zone does not map one to one onto administrative dong boundaries. So we show the zone name exactly as published and let you pick which one is yours.
  • We cannot keep the data current. We only have what each local government has uploaded, so areas where updates have stopped stay stopped on our end too.
  • We do not cover bulky waste or special items. Those go through separate reporting procedures that differ by region, so they do not fit into a weekday table.
  • We do not send notifications. This is a tool you check whenever you need it.

How to read the table

When more than one weekday appears together, it means that zone can be put out on any of those days. Areas run on a fixed collection-point system tend to have a wider set of days but one set spot, while door-to-door areas have narrower days but you leave it right outside your door. The collection point field helps tell the two apart.

Many times are written as crossing midnight into the next day. That means it goes out in the evening and gets collected before dawn the next morning.

Common sticking points

My neighborhood is not here. That means the local government has not uploaded this standard data yet. We leave it blank instead of making something up.

The zone name looks unfamiliar. Some zones are grouped by apartment complex name or road name. Matching it against the name on your management office notice or recycling area sign usually finds it.

Where is this recorded. Only the region you looked at most recently stays on this device, and nothing is sent to a server. See the privacy policy below for details.
